Highwood under Snowfall
A Winter Camping Masterpiece

We pride ourselves in going above and beyond to keep guests cozy, comfortable, and decadent during the winter months. We are able to raise the temperature inside the tent roughly 30-35 degrees from the outside temperature. We will stay in touch with you leading up to your reservation in the event of an extreme cold front so that you always know what to expect.

Bring a cozy sweater and enjoy the small miracle of peaking out of your cozy tent to see a fresh coating of snow over your own private Vermont glade. You’ll feel as if you’ve been transported to Narnia.

We have designed our grounds to give guests the experience of really getting away from it all. The camp is tucked into the corner of our secluded glade and is a 5-minute walk along a gravel path to the parking area. Please check the weather in advance of your visit and bring appropriate footwear. We are thrilled to offer a complimentary shuttle service for guests and their bags for check-in and check-out.

If you or your partner have mobility issues and are concerned about the walk between the camp and the parking area, we are happy to offer our shuttle service for any trips you might be taking in addition to check-in and check-out. Let us know in advance and we can work out all the details and make the experience as seamless as possible. Please note that the tent is elevated and accessed via stairs.

For guests traveling to Highwood Retreat on the train, we would be thrilled to arrange pick-up and drop-off for you from the Bellows Falls station for a flat rate of $30. The Vermonter train route travels daily between Washington D.C. and St. Albans with stops including Philadelphia and NYC.  Please select Train Station Shuttle Extra Fee when booking.
